This is beautiful: "Waiting for something beautiful to be born – for joy to fully enter your life – is hard. The child is already there, the joy is present, but you still long for its arrival."

Not surprisingly, I have also been meditating on and writing about the idea of waiting. Advent has a way of inspiring that! As I thought about what I wait for now and have waited for in my life, the list began to separate itself into two distinct columns: Those things I wait for that will happen at a certain moment, on a certain date (or an approximate date, as is usually the case with birthing a baby); and the more abstract things I wait for that I can't put on a calendar, because they have no clear end in sight. It is so much harder to wait with expectancy when we don't know what exactly to expect, or when, but what you wrote here helps immensely:

"The hope and joy is perpetually gestating and being born in light of the way this one little baby shattered every preconception we ever had about the dream we long for."

Your imagery is lovely, Julie. The potential for waiting to transform us all is great, if we are open to it.
