I am still challenged (if not quite fully persuaded) by his "Why I Don't Own a Computer." I feel about Berry, the way that Berry feels toward a man he mentions in his essay: "I knew a man who, in the age of chainsaws, went right on cutting his wood with a handsaw and an axe. He was a healthier and a saner man than I am. I shall let his memory trouble my thoughts." It's occurrences – and reasoning – like that, that led Wendell Berry to write many of his essays. I feel about Berry, the way that Berry feels toward a man he mentions in his essay:

"I knew a man who, in the age of chainsaws, went right on cutting his wood with a handsaw and an axe. He was a healthier and a saner man than I am. I shall let his memory trouble my thoughts."
