Westminster Theological Seminary Suspends Peter Enns
So I thought that Inspiration and Incarnation (the book Enns is being suspended over), was a fairly conservative and very evangelical book. I guess saying the Bible is interpreted crossed too many lines for the minority of the faculty at Westminster. Once again, expulsion instead of dialogue…

After reading the article, it seems to me that there is dialogue has been dialogue and will continue to be dialogue. Be careful you don’t accuse folks of not dialoguing simply because they also act in a way in which you disaprove.
Whatever dialogue there was apparently was meaningless. The faculty voted in favor of him, the dialogue showed he was supported, and still this occurred. If an authority can sweep in and render dialogue meaningless, is it really valued in that community? Or is it just a way of gathering names and information for later use…
So what exactly set people off? I can’t see how expecting the Bible to reflect its cultural context is a problem. Unless I’m really missing something as to what this book is about…?

Again, is dialogue only meaningful if the result is to your liking?
“gathering names for later use” Sounds a little paranoid.
Perhaps the administration is wrong. Maybe as dialogue continues “they” will see that it is the policy that needs to be changed and not the “policy breaker” who needs to be disciplined. Or maybe “they” will chose to hold their ground and on-lookers and potential students will have more information on which to base their support/attentance/disagreement.
