New from David Wilcox
I think I've mentioned here a dozen times or so that I love the music of David Wilcox. I don't listen to a lot of music, but I've followed Wilcox since I was in high school. His songs are simple in the profound folksy sort of way, but tell stories that connect to the core of our experiences. Well, he has a new album out. You can purchase it or listen to it for free (for now) at his website and it hits stores this week. As always, this one is full of fantastic songs. There is a great one on community and another on sacred encounters. The building theme of the album seems to be that of embracing the freedom to fully be oneself, a theme that I know many of us have struggled with recently.
I personally loved these lines from the song Perfect Storm -
I won’t spend my whole life hiding
Where no soul could ever thrive
I can’t live with just surviving
My heart wants to feel alive
So Airstream gets my full recommendation, but then again it's hard for Wilcox to come out with something I don't like.
