Wow. I haven't even heard of this. Leonard Nimoy in the voice-over? That doesn't work in the timeline unless he's playing his great-grandfather. Gosh, such a nerd am I. So, who's playing Christopher Pike?

I'm really not sure how Nimoy fits in (old and young Spocks??)… but I am curious about Sylar from Heroes as Spock and Eomer from LOTR as McCoy. Here's the cast list.

    Chris Pine … Kirk
    Zachary Quinto … Spock
    Eric Bana … Nero
    Winona Ryder … Amanda Grayson
    Zoe Saldana … Nyota Uhura
Karl Urban … Leonard 'Bones' McCoy
    Bruce Greenwood … Christopher Pike
    John Cho … Sulu
    Leonard Nimoy … Spock
    Simon Pegg … Scotty
    Anton Yelchin … Pavel Chekov

Don't you mean Syler as Spock?

I am glad to know that there are other trekkies in the conversation.

I'm really not sure what I think about the upcoming movie. Looking at the Trek movies as a whole, I was a little disappointed with the last two TNG movies. In that train of thought, I guess the franchise could use a movie that takes it in a different direction. But look at what they did in the "Enterprise" TV series? I've heard true Trekkies say it got better towards the end, but I was disappointed with what I saw at first and quickly (and unfairly?) gave up on it soon.

I'd be much more excited about a DS9 movie or a TNG spinoff movie (although in these my prequel skepticism would be replaced by worry). But I'm still gobbling up rumors and details in anticipation of a possibly cool Trek movie.

Hey, considering what they brought to our culture and childhoods, I say we give them another chance. Though the movies – in my mind – really lost their quality. If they took the time to make a really great movie, we'd be back in a heartbeat!
