Christmas Movie Meme

So it’s been a long and really hard week. I don’t want to go into the details, except to say that I am utterly drained and braindead. So blogging at the moment will be this fun meme started by John Smulo.

Here are the rules -

1. Write down your four favorite Christmas movies in descending order.
2. Tag the first ten people who respond in your comment section saying they want to participate.
3. (Optional) Include a link to John’s post and encourage others to place a link to their completed meme in the comments section of his post so we can keep track of the meme.

Alright, I think I can handle this one. I like Christmas movies, I just have never been a huge fan of some of the classics (It’s a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas…). Some of these aren’t Christmas movies per se, although with Christmas as the setting I let them count. (And no Mike (and mom), Ernest Saves Christmas did not come close to making this list)

1. Christmas Vacation – my family has this entire movie memorized. My parents have conversations consisting of only lines from this movie and certain phrases(fixed the newel post) have become common idioms for us. Mike thinks we’re crazy and keeps a running tally of Christmas Vacation references every holiday season. I still make him watch the movie every year.

2. Love Actually – The movie meant to satirize the romantic comedy that become of of the best romantic comedies out there. I love the stories, I love how life interrelates at Christmas. And of course, “If it’s really Christmas, come on and let it snow” gets stuck in your head forever.

3. The Muppet Christmas Carol – Another yearly must watch. Gonzo as Charles Dickens the narrator – what’s not to love?

4. While You Were Sleeping – Christmas in Chicago. Yes it’s a cheezy romantic comedy, but I still think it’s great.
